Minister of Planning Dr. Ashraf al-Arabi asserted that the former officials' disregarding of solving the problems led to the aggravation and complication of them.
The Minister also said that the local debt reached about 90% of the gross domestic product (GDP), noting that the ministry would take urgent procedures for activating Egyptian economy via facing the budget deficit and defining the minimum and maximum rate of wages.
The minister's remarks came during his meeting with businessmen in Alexandria under the title of "the future development plan for Egypt". The meeting was attended by the Governor of Alexandria Tarek el-Mahdi.
Arabi noted that the value of targeted investments this year hit EGP 290 billion. He added that the investments include EGP 120 billion for public services, and EGP 170 billion for the private sector.
