The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions has urged President Michael Sata to address pressing national issues when he opens Parliament on Friday.
Secretary General Roy Mwaba said since President Sata had made it a point never to address the nation through a press conference he should respond to national issues through the parliamentary address.
"We appeal to the President that when he addresses the nation on Friday he should respond to the many questions that people have been raising through out his two years in office. Since he has not been willing to address the nation we are hoping he does that when he appears at parliament," he said.
"We have in mind important issues like judicial reforms, the budget deficit and also the very expensive issue of defections since it is the ruling party that is mostly instigating these defections. We are hoping the President addresses those key issues."
President Sata is this Friday expected to officially open parliament.
