Djibouti Launches Its Section of the Ethio-Djibouti Railway Project

Djibouti launched the construction of its section of the new railway which will run from Djibouti to Dire Dawa to Addis Ababa on Monday (September 16). The launch came during the third meeting of the Joint Djibouti-Ethiopia Coordination Commission for the railway.

The cost of US$600 million being financed by the China EXIM Bank; and the . China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) won the tender for the construction of project. Djibouti's Transport Minister, Moussa Ahmed, said the railway line "will facilitate access to different markets in the region, and will also link Djibouti to South Sudan through Ethiopia."
