Nigeria: NIMET to Commercialise Services for Revenue

Director General/CEO of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Dr. Anthony Anuforom, has said part of the agency's targets in the months ahead is the full commercialization and marketing of its services to enhance internally generated revenue (IGR).

Citing the progress made in revenue generation by the UK Met Office, an equivalent of NIMET, which earned 205 million pounds (over N52 billion) in revenue last year, Anuforom said the agency's target is to be like the UK Met office, expressing optimism that the agency can aim at making N20 billion from meteorological services in one year. "What that will do for us is that it will help us consolidate what we have and improve on it," he said.
