Namibia: Court Throws Out Caprivi Treason Jurisdiction Challenge

A RENEWED attempt to question the High Court's power to try people accused of having been involved in a plot to secede the former Caprivi Region from Namibia was thrown out of court yesterday.

Following the ruling in which Judge Elton Hoff struck a new jurisdiction challenge in the main Caprivi high treason trial from the court roll, defence lawyer Ilse Agenbach informed the judge that her 15 clients have instructed her to continue to pursue their latest legal strategy in the High Court as a civil case.
