The IFP condemns the xenophobic attacks that are currently occurring in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. IFP spokesperson on Police, Mr Velaphi Ndlovu, MP said, "We urge the residents of affected areas in Port Elizabeth not to take the law into their own hands. They should allow the police and the National Prosecuting Authority to deal with this matter. The police are performing their tasks admirably and have already arrested a Somali national accused of killing a 22 year-old man; now residents must allow the law to take its course and must exercise calm and restraint."
The IFP urges the police to remain in the areas affected by violence until this situation calms down.
