The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) failed to properly investigate allegations of corruption and tender irregularities at the Former Department of Roads and Transport in the Eastern Cape, but is drafting a final report on "closing most of the matters due to uncooperative departmental officials and lack of documentation". This was revealed in the recently tabled Special Investigating Unit (SIU) Interim Report.
Under "findings", the SIU states that no arrests have been made so far, no disciplinary action has been recommended yet and no contracts have been set aside.
