South Africa: Equity Reigns At Motor Plant's Centre

The gender equity and Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) arrangements at Ford Motor Company's Automotive Industry Development Centre in Silverton have met with approval from National Council of Provinces (NCOP) delegates who are on an oversight visit to the Tshwane Metro area.

The aim of the centre is to grow the South African automotive industry's global competitiveness by providing skills development in the sector and creating sustainable BEE businesses. The delegation visited the centre to assess among other things whether it was achieving its aim of developing BEE companies and to see how it deals with challenges that could hinder that objective.
