Somalia: Dozens Arrested in Galka'ayo Security Operations

Galka'ayo — Many young men believed to be behind the rising insecurity in Galka'ayo town were arrested by the Puntland police in early Saturday security operations.

This was confirmed by the deputy governor of Mudug region who reiterated that they were hunting down for trouble makers including Alshabab fighters in the security operations.

However, the residents of Galka'ayo town had different views about the security operations as some welcomed the operations while others said that they only arrested the innocent and the poor.

Similar security operations are also underway at the coastal town of Bosaso.

Security in the region has been heightened after Puntland's assistant minister of state visited Galka'yo town.
