Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu Shagari has described chartered accountants produced by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) as being important to administration both at the private and public sector of the economy.
Shagari stated this in Sokoto while receiving the 49th President of ICAN, Alhaji Kabir Mohammed and his entourage who were on courtesy visit to the state, on behalf of the state Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko.
"The training and skills of your members as a whole are very germaine to administration in both private and public sectors. Chartered accountants are one of the most important professionals in the country today, because you deal with and handle money. For any sector to actualize its set goals, it needs chartered accountants," he enthused.
The deputy governor urged said partnership with the state government on how to make more youths from the state embrace Accountancy, will be looked into.
Earlier, The ICAN President had intimated him that he was in the state to see how ICAN members are faring and to rub minds with them on how best to tackle any challenges facing them in the discharge of their duties. While appealing that the state government should employ more ICAN members, ICAN President pleaded with the Deputy Governor to allocate a plot of land to the Sokoto district society of the Institute on which to build its district office.
