Kenya: Death Toll in Westgate Attack Rises to 69

The death toll of those killed at the Westgate shopping mall attack has risen to 69 as of 11.22am today according to the Kenya Red Cross.

Sixty three people have also been recorded missing following the siege at the mall by about 10-15 gunmen. The number of those injured in the incident remains at 175.

Security operations are still ongoing to rescue hostages still held inside the mall by a group the terrorist group. Over 1000 hostages have so far been rescued from the siege that is now in its third day.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku has appealed to the public to stop speculating over the incident and desist from irresponsible reporting on social media but instead wait for official statements from the government.
