Bardo — "Withdrawn National Constituent Assembly (NCA) members support decisions made on Saturday by the Administrative Commission of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) to exert pressure on the coalition government so that it accepts clearly and without loss of time the quartet's initiative," withdrawn NCA member Salma Baccar told TAP news agency.
"Withdrawn members will contribute to the success of the protest movements decided by UGTT; they will resume their duties in the assembly only when hoped-for results are attained," she announced.
Mrs. Baccar stressed that withdrawn NCA members had welcomed the initiative of the quartet by renouncing its claim of the assembly's dissolution and accepting to resume works provided they be circumscribed to finishing off the constitution and preparations for the upcoming elections.
The withdrawn member also expressed hope that the ruling coalition would clarify its position so as to steer the country out of the crisis.
UGTT Administrative Commission decided on Saturday to organise regional and sector-based protest movements, as a first step, to pressurise the ruling troika, UGTT Deputy Secretary-General Sami Tahri said.
