MORE than 100 pints of blood were donated in one hour yesterday by Embu town residents for victims of the Westgate Mall terrorist attack. Embu regional blood transfusion services team leader Fred Wambugu said they opened blood donation exercise at around 11am and in less than an hour over a 100 voluteers had come out to donate blood.
He praised the residents for their mercy and solidarity with the victims of the attack and called on more po- eple to come out and donate. Donors included leaders led by the deputy speaker of the Embu County Assembly Ibrahim Swaleh.
The donors called on the government to find ways of preventing such attacks in future. They called on parliament to amend laws pertaining to terrorism so that harsher penalties like death can be given to any convicted terrorists.
The siege of the mall was still on yesterday, two days after al Shabaab terrorists attacked the mall. More than 60 people have been killed in the attack and over 100 injured.
