THE Kenya Ports Authority has acquired a container handling crane simulator to boost training of its operators to international standards. The Sh73.5 million modern training equipment is expected at the port next month pending installation at Bandari College.
This makes Mombasa the first and only seaport in East and Central Africa region to invest in this technology, according to KPA head of cooperate affairs Benard Osero.
"It is a high class facility offering a wide range of training solutions to the maritime industry," he said. The simulator has a combination of the operator's cabin, seats, control console, high fidelity visual system, sound system, motion platform and trainer station equipped with a CCTV camera.
