Kenya: Top Chef Competition Launched in Nairobi

There is a new culinary competition in town. Dubbed the Nestle Professional Chefs Forum, it will bring leading chefs from across Kenya to a battle it out for the top chef title. Using a range of Nestle's Maggi rich flavour and cubes, the final selected chefs will proceed to showcase their culinary prowess at this year's Hospitality and Food Service Trade Exhibition (Hostex) slated for October 29-31 at the KICC.

"The Chefs Forum is a platform for participants to discover and showcase their outstanding skills and a motivating factor to excellence in the country's hospitality industry. This is a chance for us to build long-lasting relationships, share knowledge and insights with the players in the hospitality industry, especially the chefs who are the opinion shapers in this business," says Nestle Professional country business manager Rabie Issa.

"I am happy that Nestle has inaugurated this contest. We can do with a lot of such. All we want is for them to take us (chefs) into the kitchen and let us 'burn' each other to know who's the best. Most certainly I will come on top," said Brew Bistro's chief chef Tim Freeman.

The forum will be judged by three top chefs, Mohsine Korich, Tim Challen and Joseph Onchwati.
