The Laikipia County Assembly was on Wednesday recalled from recess to discuss the revised budget. This is after the earlier budget prepared by the county executive arm in May was rejected by the national budget office. It was found to have a deficit of Sh1.8 billion and the county assembly was asked to revise it.
The Sh5.a billion that the county government initially hoped to spend in the 2013-14 financial year was reduced to Sh4.06 billion by the national government. The county assembly, which had adjourned indefinitely, reconvened on Wednesday to debate the revised budget report and adopted it.
