The US supports Egypt at international institutions, topped by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, affirmed the US Chargé d'Affaires in Cairo David Satterfield.
During a meeting Thursday with Finance Minister Ahmed Galal, Satterfield said that the US' stance toward Egypt is clear and has not changed, adding that his country supports Egypt at the financial institutions.
The US is keen on promoting economic ties with Egypt, he affirmed.
On his part, Galal said that the Egyptian government is pursuing a clear and defined plan on both the political and economic sides towards the building of a modern Egypt, noting that the government's policies are designed to activate the economy, achieve social justice and as well as realizing financial and economic stability.
He underlined the importance of economic ties with the US, saying that direct US investments in Egypt are more important than aid.
The US market is of a special importance to the Egyptian exporters, he added.
