Nigeria: Climate Change - UK Pledges £3.87 Billion Support to Developing Countries

The United Kingdom (UK) has pledged to provide £3.87 billion to support developing countries tackle low carbon development, protect forests and assist the poorest of nations around the world adapt to the impacts of climate change.

A statement yesterday from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Abuja quoted the Foreign Secretary's Special Representative for Climate Change, Mr. Neil Morisetti, as making the disclosure. This followed the release of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report. It is said to be the latest assessment of climate science for the first time in six years. The money is to be accessed through its International Climate Fund (ICF)
