Lome — Despite daunting security challenges and the wave of global terrorism, Nigeria remains irrevocably committed to the propagation of peace, security and economic liberation of the African continent.
Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Togo Matthew Sunday Adoli spoke on Monday night in Lome at the commemoration of the 53rd Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.
He affirmed that the government would continue to engage in the facilitation of peace and security in the region.
On the internal security challenges in the country, Adoli assured respective government representatives and the Nigerian community that the country was not descending the precipice but rather was making significant economic progress and strengthening democracy.
The Nigerian envoy also echoed the existing harmony between Togo and Nigeria noting that relations between them have deepened.
Adoli said Nigeria will in due course send student officers to Togolese military institutions for training and the study of the French language.
Togo also has military officers in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and other military institutions in Nigeria, he added.
The Togolese minister, Hon Robert Dussey, who was the special guest of the night, expressed felicitation with the government and people of Nigeria for the landmark event.
