Following the brutal murder of a graduate, Mr. Moses Murtala Aminu, by a police corporal Alex Okpe on Sunday 29, September, 2013, the aged parents Mr. and Mrs. Mohammed Jimoh Aminu have threatened to take legal action to seek justice.
The blind father of the deceased, Mallam Aminu, a sexagenarian who spoke in an emotion-laden voice, said he wanted to live the case in the hand of God, but disclosed that his friends and associates insisted that take legal action to seek justice.
He said the young and vibrant late Moses, who had just graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was practically the bread winner of the family.
Solicitor to the family, Ehizogie Imadojemu, who also briefed newsmen at the family residence, said every legal means is being carried out to ensure that justice is gotten, even if it involves dragging the man and the Nigeria Police Force to court over the killing of Aminu.
But in his reaction to the killing, Kaduna State Police Commissioner Olufemi Adenaike confirmed that the officer, Corporal Okpe, had confessed firing but insisted that he did not aim to kill the deceased.
According to Adenaike, the officer has since been arrested and confirmation of his arrest sent to the police headquarters, adding that investigation had since started.
"We have commenced investigation and should the police [officer] be found guilty, he will be dismissed and prosecuted."
