The Angolan diplomat João Garcia Bires on Tuesday was accredited as non-resident ambassador to North Korea, ANGOP has learnt.
On the occasion, the ambassador transmitted a message from the Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, to his North Korean counterpart, Kim Jong-Il, as well as made a retrospective of the social, economic and political situation in Angola.
The diplomat also met with officials of the Asian country's Foreign Affairs Ministry to whom he handed over the copies of his credentials.
The Angolan ambassador's team toured the Kunsumsan palace, where one finds the remains of the former presidents Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong II, to whom Garcia Bires paid tribute.
Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong II died in 1994 and 2011, respectively.
Joao Garcia Bires, who is resident ambassador to China, also visited the museum in which it is shown the commemoration of the victory of the struggle for the liberation of this country.
