Goaso — The Asunafo North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mohammed Kwaku Doku has commissioned a 6-classroom block with ancillary facilities worth over GH¢160,000.00 for the people of Fianko in the Asunafo North Municipal of Brong Ahafo Region.
The school is expected to house children from Primary 1 to Primary 6 from Fianko and its surrounding communities.
Speaking at the function, Hon. Doku mentioned that the school block was in line with the NDC Government's promise to remove all schools under trees. "This is just one of the promises we made during the campaign. I want to assure you that I and for that matter the NDC Government will deliver on all the promises made to the good people of Ghana", he assured.
The MCE hinted that there were 65 Junior High Schools (JHS) in the municipality and 35 of them had been provided with better school blocks. In the Primary sector, he said, there were 97 Primary Schools with 50 of them having good structures. The Government, and for that matter the Municipal Assembly, he said, was working hard to provide better school blocks for those that were not having.
Hon. Doku promised that all requests he had had from the people of Fianko such as Teachers' Quarters, Clinic, Electricity and Road networks would be fulfilled. He said a temporal block would be put up for the treatment of minor ailments while waiting for the construction of the clinic to commence. He stated that all materials for the electrification project were ready and that Fianko and its surrounding communities would start enjoying the light in December this year.
Hon. Doku promised to supply the schools with computers as soon as the electricity was installed in the communities. This he said would enable the teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT) very effective. He tasked the Assembly Member of the area to liaise with the chiefs and opinion leaders to initiate projects for the Assembly to support.
He urged parents to send their children to school for they were the future of the nation. "The cocoa is no more, the timber is being lumbered away and all that is left as property is our children. Remember, no child wrote an application to his parents to bring him into the world. Spend your resources on your children for they are your future cocoa", he concluded.
The Municipal Director of Education, Jonas Yeboah Yelbouri entreated parents to supply their wards with better school uniforms, sandals, school bags, exercise books and food to enable the children have interest in the school to become better graduates in future. He urged all stakeholders to contribute to the maintenance of the structure to sustain its life span.
The Kyidomhene of Mim Traditional Area, Nana Baffour Awuah who represented the Mim Paramount Chief was of full praise for the NDC Government and prayed it fulfills the rest of its promises to the people of Fianko, Asunafo North Municipal and Ghana as a whole. He admonished parents to stop wasting their monies on funeral cloths, parties and weddings, rather, invest in their wards' education.
The Chiefs and people of the municipality colourfully graced the ceremony.
