Kenya: Protest Over Land Grabbing
By Charles Mghenyi
PARENTS and teachers of Sahajanad School for the Ohysical and Mentally Challenged Children have protested the grabbing of the school's land. The Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association, Hari Ngumbao said a private developer has grabbed the 1.5 acre plot belonging to the institution.
"Sponsors are now pulling out of the project due to the grabbing,"he said. Ngumbao was addressing the press at the school on Saturday. He said the grabbed portion is supposed to host a new dining hall and staff quarters. "We intended to develop 50 housing units for teachers and a dormitory for the children on this land," Ngumbao said.
