Calabar — The Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Hogan Bassey has confirmed that the father of Mr Efiok Cobham, the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Etubom Essien Cobham, has been abducted.
He also confirmed that the residences of Etubom Cobham and that of the Director General of Department of the State Security DSS were damaged by the kidnappers.
According to reports, the gunmen stormed the home of the elder states man in Creek Town, a riverine community in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River and abducted Etubom Cobham.
The kidnappers reportedly invaded the community with boats and fired sporadically into the air during the night and scared off policemen in the neighbourhood.
An eye witness, Inyang Effiom said "it was like a war scene and people were scared of coming out of their houses. It was like the entire community was under siege."
To wade off any resistance, the victim's residence was reportedly riddled with bullets.
The kidnappers were also said to have invaded the residence of the Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Mr. Ekpenyong Ita in Creek Town.
The building was also riddled with bullets, though nobody was reportedly abducted.
