Chairman, Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu, has described electricity as a key factor that would drive the economic growth of the African continent.
At a power forum titled, "Powering Africa's Progress" organised by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC, United States (US) yesterday, Elumelu noted that electricity supply in US was the same as in other continents, adding that the only difference is that power was not being made accessible in Africa as it were in US.
His words: "Power is what Africa sees as a very critical factor to its economic development. Electricity in the Americas is same as other continents. They all enjoy same benefits and impacts but the difference is that power is made more accessible in America while it has become a scarce commodity in the African continent."
