Maputo — The southern Mozambican provinces of Maputo and Gaza on Saturday are expected to experience an intense heat wave with maximum temperatures reaching between 38 and 40 degrees centigrade.
This hot spell could signal the beginning of the rainy season, which traditionally starts in the second half of October.
According to the National Meteorology Institute (INAM), on Saturday night there will be thunderstorms accompanied by light showers.
However, on Sunday, the temperature will drop to around 23 to 25 degrees centigrade.
In the central provinces, temperatures are also due to soar to between 37 and 41 degrees centigrade before dropping on Monday.
