First Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Military Production Colonel General Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that Egypt is bigger than any hints of suspending aid to it.
This came in a strongly worded message addressed by Sisi to US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel during a telephone conversation last Thursday.
A military source told the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper that Sisi informed Hagel that Egypt and its people are bigger than any threat to cut off US assistance, which came within the framework of the peace agreement with Israel.
The source said Sisi asserted to the Defense Secretary that Egypt and the Egyptian Armed Forces reject the manner in which the US deals with a big country like Egypt.
He also asserted that Egypt does not depend on assistance from anybody adding that Sisi also told Hagel that Egypt rejects any foreign pressure from any country, which seeks to influence the Egyptian decision and Egyptian internal affairs.
