The prosecution of the International Criminal Court has introduced a new witness in the case against Deputy President William Ruto, and former radio presenter Joshua Arap Sang. Witness 487 has officially been introduced to the court after the previous Witness 326 concluded giving his testimony.
Presiding judge of Trial Chamber V(a) Eboe-Osuji Chile said that the Witness 487's face and voice will be distorted. "There will be image and voice distortion, private sessions and redaction of public records to protect witness," he said.
Judge Eboe additionally said that the prosecution will be the first to question the witness followed by the defence for Sang led by lawyer Katwa Kigen, then by DP William Ruto's defence team, led by lawyer Karim Khan. The prosecution has said that the witness will only be cross examined for at most one and a half days. The hearing has gone into its first private session for the new witness.
