Shoprite has announced that they have fired all their striking workers after refusing to go back to work until their demands are met.
The workers who have staged a boycott to press for improved conditions of service.
On Monday, management had attempted to talk the workers into going back to work through Labour Deputy Minister Leonard Chitotela but the workers opted to continue the strike fearing that once they go back for work their demands would not be attended.
Management has moved to turn the pressure back on the striking workers saying they should all consider themselves fired.
The chain store has said the workers will have to reapply for readmission to their employment.
Workers are demanding at least a minimum of K1, 100 which is the government decreed threshold for shop workers and also an end to casualization.
