Today, we are publishing a FrontPage story in which we are highlighting an alarm raised by a youth activist over what he called the poor sanitary condition of the Redemption Hospital in the Borough of New Kru on the Bushrod Island.
The Redemption Hospital, which is the only public hospital on the Bushrod Island, caters to hundreds of people, including children on a daily basis.
While describing the sanitary condition at the hospital as 'deplorable', Mr. Lawrence Konton, who is also a resident of New Kru Town, disclosed that there is a huge stockpile of garbage at the back of the TB and HIV Annex of the hospital.
According to him, the garbage poses serious health hazard to the patients of the hospital and residents of the area.
Among other things, he called on the Government of Liberia(GOL) to urgently move to the hospital in a bid to address the poor sanitary condition.
Considering the importance of the alarm raised by this youth activist, we think it is very necessary for the GOL to give it due attention for good of not only the patients, but also those living around the hospital.
While we sincerely acknowledge the numerous constraints of the government, we encourage the government to please consider the poor sanitary condition of this public hospital as a matter of urgency.
It is our ardent hope that the government will give due consideration to this alarm and act straightway.
