President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has reportedly escaped a motor accident unharmed around Gbarnga, Bong County, in which her two vehicles and three vehicles belonging to her security detail badly damaged.
The accident occurred between Gbarnga and Palala, sources said.
Two of the president's bullet-proofed, land cruiser jeeps, and three vehicles belonging to the Executive Protection Services (EPS) with license plates EPS 50, EPS, 26 and EPS 28 were damaged in the process.
President Sirleaf was en route to Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County where she will be joined by her Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Quattara for peace meeting.
There is no official statement on the cause of the incident, but sources quoted one of the drivers of the president's vehicles as blaming it on poor visibility.
Because of lack of visibility, the driver (not named) reportedly hit the vehicle ahead of him, while that vehicle ran into the vehicle and other one hit the other in sequence.
Liberia is at present experiencing heavy downpour of rains, and more besides, the road leading to the Gbarnga is said to be a bad condition.
