Nigeria: NCWS, CSOS Urge ASUU to End Strike

Women under the aegis of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), the umbrella body of women organizations in the country yesterday held a peaceful protest against the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

ASUU has been on strike for about four months following the inability of the Federal Government to implement its 2009 agreement with the union. ASUU has rejected a N600 billion offer made by the government on Thursday night opting for full implementation of the agreement.
