Kenya: KCSE Exams Kicks Off

THE Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) has kicked off today with more than 450,000 candidates sitting for the national exams.

In Mombasa, the county director Abdikadir Kike said a total of 6,342 candidates are sitting for examinations in the county. He said no major incident had been reported so far, with candidates tackling the English paper one. Nine inmates from Shimo la Tewa maximum prison are among 450,000 candidates sitting for this exam countrywide. The County Director of Education Nicodemus Anyang however said the delays caused by transport hitches were sorted out and the exams are going on smoothly. Security has been beefed up at schools in Baringo and Pokot areas usually affected by cattle rustling.
