Kenya: Flower Farms Staff Union Calls for Strike

Employees at three major flower firms in Eldoret have gone on strike to demand the full implementation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement with their employer. Kenya plantation workers union secretary Joseph Etabo yesterday said workers have not received transport allowances as agreed in the CBA.

"We have a seven-day notice for the strike," said Etabo, who addressed the workers at Zena Roses grounds. He said workers at Sosiani and Asai farms are facing a similar challenge. One of the senior managers at the farms who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media said the workers grievances are being addressed.
