The minister of Commerce , Rosa Pacavira, Saturday visited Ondjiva, southern Cunene province, to check the arrangements so far made for the implementation of the rural market and identify areas for collecting agricultural products for their transportation to the main markets of the region.
The minister , accompanied by senior staff of his ministry , traveled to Ombadja district , 96 kilometers north of the city of Ondjiva, where she assessed with the local authorities the existing conditions for implementation of the project.
With the same purpose , the minister of Commerce visited the informal market in the city of Oshomukuyo Kwanyama . Speaking to the local press , the Commerce minister said that her visit to Cunene served to closely see the existing conditions , as well as finding synergies with the local government for the enforcement of the construction of rural markets where farmer will feel comfortable.
" This exercise will thus enhance the work of the peasants and their products , since at present it is known that domestic agricultural products eventually become damaged due to the of flow , hence the Angolan Government adopted this project to monetise the activity of the peasants, " he said .
Rosa Pacavira stressed that , initially , the project will covered the provinces of Cunene , Huila , Huambo Luanda , Bie , Kwanza Norte and Kwanza Sul and Benguela . In his turn , the governor of Cunene province , António Didalelwa , said that the programme of the Ministry of Commerce, was contemplated is a commendable initiative as it involves the participation of all farmers in the process . The programme in question is primarily aimed at combating poverty in the rural areas, increase production , family income, and boost the development of agriculture as a key factor for economic growth of the country .
