Gor Mahia celebrated their new found status as the 2013 Kenya Premier League champions with a routine 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Kakamega Homeboyz in a closely contested encounter at Kasarani yesterday.
Edwin Lavatsa latched onto a long punt from stand-in captain Anthony Akumu to notch the lone goal in the 39th minute to take Gor's tally to 59 points with two matches left to end the season. Homeboyz remained rooted in the relegation zone with 26 points--one less than Sony Sugar, who occupy the last safety slot.
