Head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Mohab Mamesh said that navigation in the Suez Canal is going on normally. He added that navigation was not affected by the marches launched by the Muslim Brotherhood and their supporters yesterday in the Canal cities and Sinai.
Mamesh pointed out that forty-four ships transited the Suez Canal on Friday 25/10/2013, carrying about 2.4 million tons.
The south-bound convoy included 26 ships, carrying 1.5 million tons, while the north-bound convoy included 18 ships, carrying 947,000 tons.
Mamesh made clear that the Suez Canal is fully secured by the Armed Forces, police, sovereign bodies, border guards in addition to the electronic devices that record all events in the waterway and surrounding area 24 hours a day.
