Kenya: Mother, 44, Sits Exams in Busia

A mother of 10, from Busia, is among 52 candidates sitting KCSE. Gaudencia Opere, 44, has been attending St Cecilia Namenya Girls Secondary School in Port Victoria since 2011, when she joined the institution as a Form Two student.

She had dropped out of Butere Girls High School in 1982 while in Form Two due to lack of fees. Opere said she feels for her husband Alphonce Ali Ojiambo who carries the burden of taking care of two wives, 15 children and other dependants, and wants to assist him.
