Kenya: Political Battles for Tullow Deals Blamed for Shutdown

Tullow Oil operations in two of its blocks in Turkana remained suspended for the third day in a row yesterday. This as details emerged that a fight for supply contracts pitying local politicians against some contractors was the main trigger for the angry confrontation between locals and the company.

Sources said the locals are only being used to demonstrate by a group of influential politicians who want to be awarded tenders for provision of services won by other companies competitively.
