Bardo — Leaders of Quartet organisations were received, on Monday, by President of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) Mustapha Ben Jaafar.
They voiced satisfaction at the will expressed by deputies to expedite the constituent process so that the assembly may accomplish its mission within three weeks, that is establishing the Independent Higher Authority for Elections (ISIE), adopting the constitution and setting a date for next elections in conformity with the roadmap.
Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Hassine Abassi said he hoped that agreement would be the keynote of the NCA works in the current stage.
He also pointed out that national dialogue is aimed at strengthening the legitimacy of the assembly which, he insisted, "remains the legitimate elected power."
For his part, Mustapha Ben Jaafar briefed leaders of sponsor organisations about the NCA's schedule set in accordance with the roadmap of the national dialogue.
Besides, he spoke of the furtherance of works of the Committee of Compromises on the Draft Constitution and the measures taken to speed up the election of ISIE members and the adoption of the constitution, Spokesperson for the NCA President Mofdi Mseddi told TAP news agency.
The Quartet delegation included UGTT's Abassi, Chair of the Tunisian Industry, Trade and Handicrafts Union (UTICA) Wided Bouchamaoui, President of the Bar association Mohamed Fadhel Mahfoudh and Deputy President of the Tunisian League for the Defence of Human Rights (LTDH) in charge of freedoms Mohamed Attia.
The latter indicated that the Government Process Committee set up as part of national dialogue is poised to present its report on Monday afternoon and unveil the names of figures suggested by stakeholders in national dialogue to hold the office of Prime Minister.
