Arusha — The 19th meeting of the Sectoral Council of Ministers responsible for East African Community Affairs and Planning is underway at the Royal Palace Hotel in Bujumbura, Burundi.
The 28 October - 1 November meeting will be held through sessions of Senior Officials; the Co-ordination Committee (Permanent Secretaries); and the Ministerial session.
The five-day meeting is expected to critically consider a report on the implementation of previous decisions of the Sectoral Council of Ministers responsible for EAC Affairs and Planning, progress report on the status of implementation of the EAC Common Market, as well as the EAC Cumulative Activity implementation report for the period July 2012 - June 2013.
The Sectoral Council is also expected to consider a progress report on the Elimination of Non Tariff Barriers (NTBs), a report on the COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite Arrangement, and matters pertaining to Political Affairs in the Community.
The Ministerial session of the 19th meeting of the Sectoral Council Ministers responsible for EAC Affairs and Planning is scheduled for Friday 1 November 2013.
