Contacts are being made by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and its embassy in Tripoli to search for Egyptians lost in the Libyan desert, foreign ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aaty said on Tuesday 29/10/2013.
The spokesman said that Libyan helicopters continued Tuesday 29/10/2013 hovering over the region in which the lost Egyptians are expected to be present.
The spokesman pointed out that a survivor called Bashar Abdel Samie Hassan, from Minya, who was found by the Libyan authorities, said that he infiltrated into the Libyan territories with a group of 60 Egyptians from different governorates.
Abdel Aaty added that there is information that another group of 12 Egyptians sneaked into the Libyan borders and three of them were injured in a mine blast.
They were transferred to Tabraq Hospital and the nine others arrived at Ajdabiya, he added.
It is worth mentioning that two of the Egyptians had died of thirst.
