Sierra Leone: IFJ/FAJ Commend Sierra Leone and Call On President to Assent to Foi Bill

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) today welcomed and commended the adoption of the Freeedom of Information Bill by the Sierra Leonean Parliament and call on the government of President Ernest Bai Koroma to assent to the Bill without any further delay.

Sierra Leone's Parliament on Tuesday, 29 October passed the Freedom of Information Bill. "We congratulate the Sierra Leone MPs, civil society organizations and the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) who after several years of hard work have finally succeeded to push the bill for adoption," said Mohamed Garba, President of FAJ. "We call on the President of the Republic to assent to the bill for enactment and implementation." Garba added.
