Africa: Ministers Confer On Africa's Sustainable Development

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development said on Monday stakeholders have to strengthen their effort to garner international support for the achievement of Africa's sustainable development goals.

A continental conference that discusses Africa's sustainable development goals was held at UNECA hall in Addis Ababa at ministerial level.

Speaking on the occasion, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Sufian Ahmed said additional endeavor is needed to make the voice of Africa heard and its interests served within the two years left to end the Millennium Development Goals.

He stressed the need to make pressure on developed countries to support Africa's development as a result of the effect of climate change the continent is experiencing.

Chief Executive Secretary of the UNECA Carlos Lopes for his part said African ministers and stakeholders should work hard to hand over a prosperous and developed Africa to the next generation.

He stressed the need to work closely with partners in order to reduce poverty and utilize the continent's natural resource properly.
