THE Sh2.5 billion port facility by Kwale based Base Titanium mining company is 90 per cent complete and will be ready for the first shipment of minerals in January. According to the management, the facility at Likoni mainland will see the firm ship the minerals on its own without needing the services of the Kenya Ports Authority.
While it will operate under KPA regulations it remains an independent and private jetty specifically for Base Titanium products exports and incoming goods. General Manager in charge of external affairs Joe Schwarz said the firm will not take its products to the Mombasa Port for export because the jetty will have storage facilities.
