Kenya: Farmer Arrested for Faking Kidnap

A farmer in Kinangop, Nyandarua county who had claimed to have been kidnapped was yesterday arrested hiding in his sister's house. With cases of kidnap on the increase in the country, panic hit Gitiri village after reports went round that the farmer had been kidnapped.

Hours after the reports, the farmer, whom the police declined to give his name until investigations are complete, made a call to his estranged wife saying his life was in danger. According to a witness, drama started last week when the man left his home in unclear circumstances.
