The Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association has asked the national government to increase funds for Free Primary Education. Nyeri county chairman Nicholas Gathemia yesterday said the government grant still stands at Sh1,020 per child per year since 2003.
"The cost of living has shot up by more than 400 per cent since 2003. By then a pencil cost Sh5 but now it costs Sh20. This leads to inadequate learning materials," said Gathemia.
