Kenya: Kiambu Women MCAs Back Finance Bill

Some Kiambu women members of the county assembly have defended the controversial Finance Bill. Led by Wanjiku Kibe, a nominated member, the 17 women accused some of their male colleagues of politicising the issue and giving false information to the public to gain political mileage.

They said the bill has largely been misrepresented and the facts blown out of context. They said the county government has to collect taxes since the money from the exchequer is inadequate to offer services and sustain development.
