Egypt: Morsi Receives First Visit in Borg Al-Arab Prison

Toppled president Mohamed Morsi received on Thursday his first visit from his family in Borg el-Arab Prison, a high level source at the Interior Ministry said.

The visit is part of exceptional visits allowed by Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim to all prisoners on the occasion of the new Hijri year, the source added.

The source told MENA that Morsi's wife, daughter and three sons visited him.

The source denied that Morsi had received any visits on Wednesday and stressed that his family's visit on Thursday is the first since he was brought to Borg al-Arab prison after his court session on Monday.

The ousted president's family carried for him three bags loaded with foods, beverages, fruits, medicines, clothes and white training suits.

The visit took place in a room in the preventive detention building next to the prison's hospital in the time and place set by the prison's regulations.

Morsi is still imprisoned in Borg al-Arab prison hospital, according to the source, and will be moved to his prison cell within 8 days.
