Kenya: Woman Shot in Police Raid On MRC 'Boss'

A woman has been admitted at the Kilifi County Hospital after she was wounded by a stray bullet. Kadzo Chengo Baya was shot in her buttocks during a confrontation between suspected Mombasa Republican Council members and police in Ganze.

The officers, acting on a tip off, were conducting an operation in a village where a suspected MRC leader was said to be recruiting members. Ganze police boss Jacob Kanaki said the officers were forced to open fire to disperse youths, who were armed with bows and arrows.
